A Tales of Vesperia voice actor squashed today rumors of a Wii port of the game. This clears up some confusion that came from an earlier misunderstanding of titles.
Voice actor Rikiya Koyama on his blog last week accidentally got Tales fans buzzing of a Wii port of Vesperia. "Tales of Vesperia is out on the Xbox and PS3, and will next appear on the Wii," he said mistakenly. Namco Bandai hadn't yet confirmed any more versions of Vesperia.
As many suspected, Koyama was really talking about the upcoming Wii-exclusive Tales of Graces. He confirmed this today on his blog.
Tales of Graces is set to release in Japan this December but has not been given a North American date, neither has the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia.
While Nintendo has received a lot of love from Namco's Tales Studio in recent years, Tales of Vesperia - perhaps its best RPG of the generation, has been left off of the Wii Wagon. While the game was extremely popular on 360, it has recently been ported to the PS3 in Japan...and now, it could be heading for the Wii too.
The rumor comes from voice actor Rikiya Koyama, who plays Duke in the game. In a post on his blog, he states that the game is coming to the Wii in some form - but whether it's a port or a spin-off is unknown. Based upon the meh-ness of last time, let's hope for the former.
Namco Bandai Japan launched a site today for the recently announced PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia. It isn't a fully featured site yet like you were all hoping, but the note at the bottom of the page reassures you that they are expecting to launch the full thing "soon". So in developer speak, soon could be quite a long time from now or actually be soon. It's quite a lovely placeholder though.
Last week, Namco Bandai courted gamers with four free download packs for Tales of Vesperia. Sure, people knew more would be coming, but now there's money involved. As Homer once put it:Oh, so your little plan. Get us addicted, then jack up the price! [as he talks, cookie crumbs splatter out of his mouth, dirtying up his shirt] ... [meekly] Well, you win. -- Homer Simpson, Bart's Dog Gets an FOn the upside, it doesn't sound like there's anything here you can't get for yourself... with a little work.
See the list and prices after the cut.
Tales of Vesperia? Who would want to play that?
Oh, right... the majority of Japan, apparently.
To celebrate the US release of the game that actually moved Xbox 360s in the Far East, Namco Bandai have released four sets of downloadable content, all for free, to the players of the game:Free Gel Set
- Contains Apple Gel, Pineapple Gel and Orange GelTrial Skill Pack: Estelle
- Estelle will learn, DEFEND, RESIST, RECOVER, ITEM THROWER, BACKSTEP, and EXP SHARETrial Skill Pack: Yuri
- Yuri will learn, STRENGTH, VITALITY, RECOVER, ITEM THROWER, BACKSTEP, and EXP SHARETrial Synthesis Kit
- A pack with syntehsis material. That is a trial package.(Medical Herb, Soul Grass, Gel Base, Magic Resin) x 10 -- Gamers Platform...how the hell does one "learn" strength? Whatever.
Apparently, this is just the start of the DLC that will be made available for the game, with possible "Level Up" DLC along the way soon. If that means less grinding, I fail to see how this could be a bad thing.
One of Microsoft's trump cards in their bid to win over the hearts and souls of those in love with the RPG genre is their exclusive hold on Tales of Vesperia. Now, in order to sweeten the pot, Bandai Namco has announced a special edition for the game's upcoming release:
"Tales of Vesperia" sure has been getting some serious attention. It's one of the few games that managed to actually make the 360 sell out in Japan, and seriously drive the sales of the system with the RPG crowd. Well, Bandai-Namco certainly has taken notice to this and is offering something special to the fans.

Make sure to reserve yours soon, the game releases August 26th. -- Miles Michaels, GamersPlatform
I wish more games I was into had special editions. I mean, the coin with Super Mario Galaxy was cool and all, but an artbook? A soundtrack? That's wicked stuff.
Microsoft is bringing home the goods of E3 with all kinds of goodies on Xbox Live. Aside from Too Human, Microsoft has also posted a demo of Tales of Vesperia on Live Marketplace. This is the first next-gen installment of the Tales franchise and looks to redefine the series.
