Look out cheaters, John Marston's come to run you in.
When it comes to Red Dead Redemption are you a low-down, dirty, rotten cheater? Are you concerned that you may be wiped off the map when Rockstar swings the ban hammer in a few days to make room for all the law-abiding citizens of the world? If so then it's not too late to come clean and save your gaming soul, as Rockstar is offering amnesty for those who clean up their act.
In order to be spared hackers must delete ALL single-player and multiplayer game saves they've used for the purposes of cheating. While you'll still get to keep your Achievements/Trophies, Social Club cheats and any pre-order bonuses you may have purchased, everything else will be wiped away, meaning you'll have to start your march to justice all over again. Still, it's likely better than being perma-banned for refusing to follow the path of honor, and since Rockstar already knows whether or not you've been naughty it's going to be pretty tough to escape the long arm of the law. Once you've deleted the save you'll need to go online and play the single player until you reach MacFarlane's Ranch and multiplayer until you clear one gang hideout or finish one match. At that point the servers will register a clean save and you'll be spared the wrath of Rockstar.
More after the break.
With Grand Theft Auto IV and, more recently, Red Dead Redemption, Rockstar Games' stock is growing, and the gaming world is eager to see the next major game from the developer. With E3 2010 around the bend, it's easy to get excited for an information blowout on Max Payne 3 or L.A. Noire, but those hopes appear to have now been dashed.
According to a report by CVG, Rockstar Games will not be appearing at this year's show, instead showcasing their games to the press with a series of of rounds at their headquarters in the next few weeks. Also, no new games will be shown at E3 from Rockstar, despite the fact that parent company Take Two Interactive will be on hand showing off games from the 2K Games and Sports brand.
Of course, there is still a chance we may hear much more on a specific Rockstar Games title at one of the platform-specific press events, including one specific game seldom heard about. Find out more past the cut.
Red Dead Redemption sure is in the news a lot these days, isn't it? It's accumulated a significant heap of critical acclaim, a 30-minute film made using the game is being aired lived on Fox on Saturday night, and stores in the UK found themselves sans any copies of the game because of its popularity. And it appears stores are still finding themselves short.
Rockstar's Red Dead Redemption has done quite well with the gaming community thus far, selling many, many copies. Unfortunately however, the multiplayer has provided more frustration than fun for many gamers. Aside from the LAN issues that were addressed earlier this week, the gaming community is reporting instances in which their character's gun, horse, or character itself disappears, rendering a visually distracting experience.
Hit the cut to see an invisible horse in action.
Since Rockstar Games began their "Social Club" media network, it has been used for little more than a way to check out song lists in Grand Theft Auto IV, as well as the uploading of high scores in Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. There hasn't been much in the way of evolving content on the social network, but that has changed with the announcement of features that will be added to the club with the release of Red Dead Redemption this month.
First off, the network's members will be privy to a series of challenges, all based off of in-game events and allowing players to win real-world prizes. Also, a community-driven, constantly evolving newspaper called "The Blackwater Ledger" will be accessible in game, keeping players abreast of ongoing player achievements. Also, expect a series of multiplayer events to be made available, the first of which will kick off on May 21 with as players battle against members of Rockstar's developmental teams.
Apart from that, you can also expect the standard achievements, leaderboards, stats, and other features that come from a social network like this. For those that have been holding off from joining the Social Club, hit the cut to find out why you should...and why you can expect this to start becoming the standard in gaming.
Rockstar's latest open-world title, Red Dead Redemption is nearing its May 18 release date and looks to be shaping up into one of the studio's finest. Instead of serving up fans another Grand Theft Auto title, Rockstar made the wise decision to switch from urban life over to something much more rural. Fortunately, while the environment may be different, Rockstar's charm and talent still appear to shine through with Redemption. What also appears to remain true with this title is Rockstar's dedication to bring fans ambitious new content that seeks to expand the experience.
Find out what kind of additional content is planned for Redemption after the cut.
GameStop and Rockstar are teaming up to offer some exclusive downloadable content to those who are man enough to belly up to the counter (or keyboard) and preorder Red Dead Redemption. Doing so allows the customer a chance to vote for their choice from three outfits to be awarded in-game.
During a recent interview with The Times Online, Rockstar's Dan Houser explained that he thinks video games are finally starting to move away from being a constant source of controversy due to violent content. In addition, he seems to tease the development of the next Grand Theft Auto title.
"[V]ideo games are a popular and easy enemy," he explains. "It's all part and parcel of doing something that's not been done before. One of the things that's always been exciting is the feeling of being in at the birth of a new medium, but of course the history of technology-driven art from the printing press onwards has been of people fighting against that stuff."
Might the downloadable content which comprises Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City be making their way to the PlayStation 3? Well, that all depends on who you ask.
If you like looking at logos for video games, pull up right here and take a seat. Rockstar has just made the website for their upcoming PS3 exclusive, Agent, live and in stereo.
Agent was announced at E3 a few weeks back. The title will be set in the 70's and will focus on espionage. And that's all we know.
Well, that and the fancy logo! The site will almost certainly be updated soon and we'll have that info then. Until then, check out their logo on their own site (you know, instead of ours)!
