After opening the floodgates at June's E3 convention, Nintendo has (probably shrewdly) allowed 3DS news to diminish to a trickle. Developers working on games for the ambitious new device, which tricks players' eyes into seeing 3D depth without special glasses, have been tight-lipped these past months.
But now Capcom has broken the relative silence to demonstrate just how ambitious their upcoming Resident Evil: Revelations will be - and give us a fragmented look at some of the things the 3DS is capable of.

More and more companies have been relying on one strong, scalable graphics engine to power all of their games. Infinity Ward/Treyarch have the IW4 engine, Valve has Source, and Epic -- along with many others -- have the Unreal engine. Capcom is no different. The Japanese publisher developed an engine for Resident Evil 5 that they call the MT Framework engine. According to 4Gamer that same engine that is powering current 360 and PS3 games is what will power the latest Resident Evil on 3DS.
Known as Resident Evil Revelations, the game will follow the continuing saga of zombies and the killing of said zombies. No gameplay has been revealed as of yet, but a trailer that could have been made with in-game footage (we've contacted Capcom to find out if that is the case) has been released and looks great for a handheld.
The MT Framework engine was obviously designed to be Capcom's go-to graphical solution, but it is hard to tell how scalable the engine is from looking at it. If Revelations is an MT Framework game, then that could prove one of two things.
Capcom is throwing support behind the 3DS with some of its biggest titles. Happily they are just remaking or porting old games. In Resident Evil Revelations's case, Capcom is designing a whole new game.
It looks like it is using a lot of the same assets from Resident Evil 5. Chris Redfield stars in a lot of the shots from the game, but it is hard to tell if this is in-game graphics or just rendered videos.
