Mikami and Suda\'s Horror Game to be Revealed at TGS

After seemingly ages, one of the biggest announced titles to come out of Japan in recent memory is finally set to be revealed. Electronic Arts has announced a special "Tokyo Showcase" event to be held before the upcoming Tokyo Game Show, and along with it will be our first glimpse of the announced co-production between two of the biggest names in Japan: Resident Evil mastermind Shinji Mikami and the man behind No More Heroes, Goichi "Suda 51" Suda. Only bits and pieces about the game have been revealed since the title was announced in 2008, such as the game being in the survival horror genre, and being scored by Silent Hill's Akira Yamaoka. But the announcement that the game will be shown first at TGS also gave one new tidbit of information, as the game is now likely to be on less platforms than initially announced.

Dead Space: Extraction "Moving Away From Strict Survival-Horror Rules," "More Action-

People love survival-horror. This was pretty well established when Capcom unleashed Resident Evil upon the world back in the 90's, if it hadn't been prior to that. And if there's one thing avid survival-horror fans seem to hate, it's when the companies behind a beloved survival-horror franchise move things into another direction. And while it may be early to refer to Dead Space as a franchise, it is moving in such a direction anyway with the Wii title Dead Space: Extraction. The game's Senior Designer, John Calhoun, explains to Nintendo Power what they are reaching for with the title. See what he says after the cut.

Capcom: One Can "Loosely" Consider Resident Evil 5 a Survival-Horror Game

No doubt this will really stir up some Kijuju among Resident Evil fans. Senior Director for Communications and Community for Capcom, Chris Kramer, recently told Microsoft's Major Nelson that while the fifth game is indeed a continuation of the series, Resident Evil 5 is no longer a survival-horror game of the traditional sort.

Rumor: Gears of War 3 in 2010; Epic Also Working on Original Horror Title?

Via Deeko News, it seems that the latest rumor ready to pop out of EGM and grab you by the nose is that Cliff and the boys of Epic are already hard at work on the next installment of Gears of War for the Xbox 360, slated for arrival in 2010. Gears of War was released in North America on November 7, 2006, and Gears of War 2 was released exactly two years later. So a third game in two more years seems like a reasonable timeframe.

Rumors: Bleszinski Goes Survival Horror, and Disney Sings 'It's a LittleBigPlanet After All&

I had found two separate rumors earlier, and upon looking more closely, I've found they both stem from the same source. Fine by me, really; it means less work and I don't have to find a pic for one of them. With Gears of War 2 just about to officially hit stores tomorrow, most gamers are preparing to tackle this latest action hit from star Epic designer Cliff Bleszinski. Not the Q-Mann, though; he lives in the future, and in the future he's already gathered word of Bleszinski's next project: a survival-horror game. Though we don't have a name or any solid details yet, Quartermann reports that the new title will mix the bloody visceral elements of Gears of War with psychological terror. And even more interesting, this one may be multi-platform. Meanwhile, Q-Mann's also been checking up on Little Big Planet creator Media Molecule as well. Sounds like these guys and gals have a lot of plans for expanding their cutesy PlayStation 3 platformer. First things in the works? Lots of content add-on packs, including Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy packs that will expand on the inclusion of Solid Snake and Sephiroth Sackboys. Also in the works for 2009 is a Disney content pack, which could include a playable version of the Mickey Mouse classic Steamboat Willie. And beyond Little Big Planet? Well, nothing's set in stone yet, but Q-Mann has heard tell of a possible online role-playing game implementing some of the lessons the team has learned from LBP. -- Quartermann, via 1upThey note that since these are both brand new titles, it might be a little bit of time before we see anything. But it isn't the first time that the Disney story has come up... from EGM, no less. Cool as LittleBigPlanet Sackey Mouse might be, though, I'm still more eagerly anticipating Mickey turning into Optimus Prime.

Renegade Kid Reveals Wii Project Based on Major 'Horror Icon'

Renegade Kid is giving hardcore Wii gamers one more reason to keep the faith. The development studio has revealed an ambitious new Wii project based on one of the "biggest horror icons of all time." Renegade Kid also announced the game will be published by Gamecock, continuing the partnership that resulted in 2007's Nintendo DS horror/shooter hybrid Dementium: The Ward. "Based on one of the biggest horror icons of all time, the game's name, plot or what systems it will be available for have yet to be revealed. "The completely new title changes things up from past Renegade Kid projects in terms of gameplay, genre and style. ...This new title is incredible, and a huge leap forward for them and the genre." -- IGN Specific details are sparse, but the information seems to indicate the project is not exclusive to Wii. Renegade Kid released a simple teaser image, pictured above, to keep fans guessing. My money is on Jack the Ripper.
