Fable II was one of those games that got Achievements "right". There were plenty of awards which players would unlock naturally throughout the course of play. But there were probably even more which encouraged experimentation and exploration. Most of these were delivered with a keen sense of humor and eye for popular culture, too. Take the "The Black Knight" Achievement, which tasks players with shooting the weapons out of both hands of an enemy, then popping them in the head. It's a reference to Monty Python and the Holy Grail. And also a task which players actually have to go out of their way to complete.
Fable III's Achievements, revealed today at Xbox360Achievements.org, look set to continue that tradition. They also shed a bit of light on some of the possibilities the game will offer.

Novels based on games are growing in popularity. Ironic, considering many believe books are being left behind in favor of more technologically-advanced forms of entertainment. Like games. With this in mind, publisher Ace Books has collaborated with Lionhead Studios to encourage gamers to actually read a book. How? By offering an unlockable weapon for the latest entry in the series upon which it is based:Â Fable.

Mr. Peter Molyneux has always been one of the loudest proponents of Kinect, which isn't necessarily surprising, since he's one of the loudest people in the industry in general. What is surprising, though, is that his next game, Lionhead Studio's anticipated Fable 3, won't even include Kinect functionality upon its release.
Molyneux has previously made statements indicating that the game would use Kinect in one way or another, though he was always mum on the specifics. Now it's clear why.

Peter Molyneux, Lionhead Games boss, has often had interesting things to say about the games he works on. Whether he's openly and overly passionate about a title and spouting about its unending greatness or he's slamming his own work, Molyneux has always been a talkative source.
At his talk during yesterday's Develop event, Peter offered up a bit of explanation concerning the "rushed" feel of Fable II. "Rushed," of course, are his words and not mine.
Molyneux explained that "Fable II, let's be honest about it, it has some terribly messy things about it..."
Seems that the game was even labeled "super black" once in the world of Microsoft's color-coded bug legend. Super black? Fable II was the first to do it.

While we're not always the biggest fans of Fable creator Peter Molyneux's shameless horn-tooting and enigmatic boasts, the man is certainly a visionary. His main problem is that his ideas are usually bigger than reality, and there are much worse faults that a game developer could suffer. He's recently claimed to have learned his lesson, though, and in his latest interview with CVG, his claims seem to err more on the side of slightly misleading than outright deceitful.

Fable creator Peter Molyneux always has plenty to say about his games before they come out, much of which ends up being somewhat far from the truth. It's not so much that he's a liar, though, as a visionary- he really wants to change the way gamers play RPGs or interact with creepy, digital little boys, but reality often simply fails to live up to his expectations. He even admitted in February that he's not going to overhype his games anymore. Afraid of the backlash that would no doubt result if builds up hype by espousing features that don't exist, he's apparently learnt his lesson.
That's why, in his most recent interview with Gamasutra, Mr. Molyneux is once again speaking more about what's been taken out of Fable 3 than what's been added.
"If you don't evolve, you die," he said. It's hard to argue with that, although Nintendo might make some good points if it came down to it.

Quite a few tidbits about Fable III have come out of Microsoft's X10 conference in San Francisco, including four new screens in our gallery and the following video documentary:

You are going to kill Peter Molyneux.
At least, it seems that may be a fear the creator of Fable has, as he explained to Gamereactor during an interview that "There's some very, very big things happening in Fable III, and it's really going to upset people. I'm really scared when I go out and tell people what it is [that] they're going to get super pissed off. They really are."
But even then, he adds that "it's the right thing to do, man. I'm sure it's the right thing to do."
It has already been confirmed that the third Fable will somehow implement Project Natal, which could be what Molyneux feels may anger fans of the series... especially if it is a requirement for play, Destructoid guesses.
The Natal-utilizing Fable game will be shown at X10 this Thursday in San Francisco, so we might get to find out sooner than later if that is indeed what is feared to "piss off" gamers.
Guess what, Fableonians (is that what one would call a Fable fan? Anyway...)! Project Natal won't be the only new addition to Lionhead's latest endeavor, oh no.
At BAFTA, the man known as Molyneux revealed that a microtransaction system would also feature in the game. During his speech, he revealed that Fable III would feature an in-game shop through which the extra content would be made available.
