Nintendo Download - 2/8/10: Deadly Viruses and Heroic Vegetables Make for a Memorable Week

I don't think anyone saw this one coming. On today's Nintendo Download, Sunsoft has released Blaster Master: Overdrive, which Sunsoft's Victor Ireland describes as being "halfway between" a remake and a sequel to the original; "more like a re-imagining." Check out the official trailer: "It's based on the original US storyline," he explains, "but some things are changed. For example, the hero (Alexander/Alex) in this one is an adult trying to save his family...AND MANKIND. :) Mix of old and new mutants, mix of similar and new bosses, somewhat different ending." This looks like just what the doctor ordered, and it's going for 1,000 Wii Points. That's not all that's available now, though; check out the Nintendo Download press release after the cut, and beneath that, the full Blaster Master: Overdrive presser.

Nintendo Download - 10/19/09: Discover New LostWinds, Numerous Domo Games and a True Arcade Classic

This week, the Nintendo Download is jam-packed with new content, with the lion's share going to DSiWare. That's not to say WiiWare has wound up short; the sequel to LostWinds, Winter of the Melodias, is now available for 1,000 Wii Points. Joining it is Hudson Entertainment's latest effort, Shootanto: Evolutionary Mayhem, a Wii-styled shooter for one or two players and 500 Wii Points. The DSi is rolling in Domo-kun, as the iconic Japanese character surfaces in not one, not two, but five different titles, each for 200 DSiPoints. Choose from Crash-Course, Hard Hat, Pro-Putt, Rock-n-Roll, and White-Water Domo games. Finally, the Virtual Console does not go ignored, as Tecmo's Rygar hits the Virtual Console Arcade with Diskarmor spinning for 600 Wii Points. Find out more details on all of these titles in the press release after the cut.

Nintendo Download - 9/14/09: Spend a Revolutionary First Semester Racing from Texas to Toyland

Last week's Nintendo Download brought us Contra ReBirth; could anything possibly top that this week? Well, probably not so much, but this week's offerings aren't so bad, either. DSiWare has two interesting offerings: one is Art Academy: First Semester for 800 DSi Points. Unlike the typical entries in the genre, this one is more about teaching you the nuances of painting on a canvas. But if art isn't your thing, then the run-and-jump action of Oscar in Toyland, also 800 Points, might be more your style. WiiWare has a triple threat of the 600 Wii Point Texas Hold'Em Poker; the 800 Point Mart Racer, in which you race through super markets with shopping carts; and the 800 Point Spaceball: Revolution, which sadly has nothing to do with the Mel Brooks film. Finally, the Virtual Console sees an update for the NES in the form of Crash 'N The Boys Street Challenge, a sort of rough'n'tough street-style sports game for 500 Wii Points. Find out more about each title in the press release after the cut.

Nintendo Download - 9.7.09: From Faraway Galaxies to the Family Room, Start Fall on a Fun-Filled Foo

Just as announced last week, today's Nintendo Download sees the release of the newest chapter of Konami's longstanding run-n-gun series, Contra ReBirth. It's 1,000 Wii Points for E10+ action, and I think I've said just about everything I can about it already without having played it (that part comes tonight). But that's not the only thing of merit for download this week; the Virtual Console continues rolling out fun from a galaxy far, far away with Super Star Wars: Return of the Jedi on the Super NES (of course). Rounding things out are the 700-point ColorZ for WiiWare, with DSiWare getting a miniature version of the DS's Clubhouse Games for 500 points. Find out more about each title in the press release after the cut.
