1up to Premiere Exclusive Gears of War 2 Multiplayer Footage in Near Future

This is utterly unexpected. 1up, obviously hoping to join the ranks of such great twists as Hayden Christensen's transformation into robot Hayden Christensen, the end of The Sixth Sense, and the existence of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, has made mention of its intention to release exclusive footage of Gears of War 2. Wait, didn't this just--? Oh, multiplayer footage. So, we've got the "what," but what about the "when"? Well, no one really knows. However, Xbox 360 Fanboy speculates that the footage will be up and revving around June 3rd -- the launch date of 1up publication Electronic Gaming Monthly's next issue. Since the clandestine video hint is sitting, nestled amongst glossy pictures and many blurbs, on an EGM preview page, Xbox 360 Fanboy may be onto something. Regardless, when the trailer finally finds its way onto the Internet, Kombo will be your front row seat. Well, figuratively speaking, anyway.

Has 1UP Leaked Dragon Quest IX's Release Date?

The team (or at least one member) at 1UP may have accidentally slapped Dragon Quest IX's release date right into one of their news articles at some point during the day yesterday. November 20. Yup, that's what they're claiming. You won't find it in the article's headline, though. You've got to travel all the way to the bottom paragraph for scoop: "With all that Dragon Quest going around, you've got to wonder if Square Enix might not be risking a little Japanese RPG burnout by the time Dragon Quest IX: Protectors of the Starry Sky hits town on November 20." The ol' journalistic slip-up, bane to PR reps amped up on Hammerheads and Espressos for having to deal with this type of thing in the first place. Two questions linger that I'm sure will be addressed by either party soon enough: Is this date legit and why the hell hasn't someone at 1UP taken notice yet? Had they, I'm fairly certain it would have already been pulled. Exhilarating stuff – we'll keep our eyes peeled for more!

1up to Premiere Exlusive Gears of War 2 Footage This Friday

Boy, this feels familiar. I hope you're holding onto something that's nailed, duct-taped, or otherwise attached to the ground, because 1up plans to blow us away this Friday. "And trust us when we say you're going to be blown away," 1up writes. See? And the blower to our blowee? That'd be a brand new, never before seen, etc., Gears of War 2 Trailer -- exclusive to 1up for the five minutes before every other gaming site picks it up. But you can bet that Kombo will be there at 10:35 p.m. PST, on the dot, so that you won't be forced to do any unnecessary page-changing. So, is GOW 2 a contender for GOTY 2008? We'll have a slightly clearer idea in only two days.

GTA IV Contains Several "Graphical Quirks," Says 1UP

According to the latest GTAIV preview from 1UP, the game is looking to continue some of the "quirks" fans of the series have come to know all to well. Examples given frame drops when things get busy as well as graphical pop up and traffic that will appear out of no where. "You'll likely notice the same graphical "quirks" that the series has dealt with since the jump to 3D. The same filmlike, grainy framerate exists and usually holds steady, but it can momentarily dip when things get frantic. There's some long-distance graphical fade-in as well as some street-level hazards that appear only after you hit them. Traffic will be nonexistent one second, then three cars deep when you rotate the camera back around, and then completely disappear when your wanted level gets to two or three stars (which is oh-so-fun when you desperately need a getaway vehicle)." While sharing many similar issues its predecessors had, 1UP does claim that at the very least these issues are not 100% the same as next generation technology has helped Rockstar hide some of these imperfections. "But even these problems have been "upgraded" in a sense for GTA4: An artistic application of filters hides some of the uglier character models, there's more types of cars to choose from, and overall, the feel of the city trumps any of the shortcomings we're familiar with by now. But you'll be able to see that in the screenshots and eventual videos."

Woman Kills Dog with Wii Remote, Neighbor Gives Dog 1UP

Oh, this is just... wow. A woman in Michigan is playing Wii Sports bowling, when her dog gets in the way of the swing and is killed from being struck in the head (and from what I can tell, the remote never even left her hand for this one). In spite of the lapse of life, however, the dog is now okay. How can this be? Click the video to find out.
