NewsMiiverse headed to 3DS this year
Miiverse, Nintendo's social platform first announced for the Wii U in June 2012, will be launching on the 3DS handheld sometime this year, according to Nintendo.
"We are also planning to make available a system update for Nintendo 3DS to allow its users to view and post content on Miiverse on the system within this year," Nintendo President Satoru Iwata said.
Miiverse first launched for the Wii U in November 2012 and served as sort of a social hub for Wii U players. Using Miiverse, players can connect with others and chat and share pictures. The newest version of Miiverse is accessible via desktop computers and smartphone browsers although it is currently in beta form. Right now it only allows content viewing and doesn't yet support creating new posts or new accounts. Nintendo is looking to "enrich the service incrementally" by bringing it to more platforms like the 3DS.
