NewsDark Souls shipments total 2 million worldwide
As developer From Software readies Dark Souls 2 for release next year, more information has surfaced about the previous game.
Since 2011, Dark Souls has pushed over 2 million copies worldwide. Roughly 375,000 of those were in Japan, where the title is a PlayStation 3 exclusive much like its predecessor, Demon's Souls.
Dark Souls shipped 1,300,000 units in the West on PS3 and Xbox 360.
The Prepare to Die Edition for PC and PS3 moved another 137,000 copies in Japan and 555,000 in North America and Europe — as a PC version and Artorias of the Abyss downloadable content for consoles.
That totals 2,367,000 units across the globe.
The sequel, Dark Souls 2, will launch simultaneously on PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC — including in Japan.
