NewsPixar's Cars races on to Disney Infinity
Disney Interactive today officially announced Pixar's Cars as the fourth Play Set for its upcoming gamin Disney Infinity. Revealed last month, Disney Infinity borrows concepts from Activision's Sklyanders franchise. You integrate collectible character figures from some of Disney and Pixar's most beloved films and bring them to life in a digital world filled with adventure and creativity. Play Sets serve as a self-contained world filled with its own unique gameplay, characters, and settings.
With the new Cars Play Set, you will drive into the virtual world of Radiator Springs. You will take on the roles of popular franchise characters Lightning McQueen, Mater, Holley Shiftwell, and Frencesco Bernouilli as you prepare the town for a big international racing event.
Cars will add an all-new driving/racing mechanics and track pieces to the Toy Box, the place where you can combine elements from every Play Set to create your own experience. This will allow you to create racing challenges, build and customize tracks, and much more.
The Cars Play Set will join the already announced Play Sets of Captain Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Caribbean), Sully (Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University), and Mr. Incredible (The Incredibles). Surprisingly, we actually left Cars off of our list of 10 franchises we'd love to see in Disney Infinity; although, it is a great addition. I have a four-year old nephew that is obsessed with Cars, so there's clearly going to be demand for this.
Disney Infinity is set to release in June 2013 for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, Wii, 3DS, and PC, as well as an accompanying mobile experience.
