Case Twenty Two - Benign Giant Cell Tumor
With a Pathological Fracture

Clinical History: The patient is a 50 year old white male who fell suffering a wrist injury.

Findings: Radiographs of the distal radius show a multicameral lesion with a partially comminuted fracture of the dorsal aspect of the lesion.

Diagnosis: Benign giant cell tumor with a pathological fracture.

Discussion: The patient was referred for biopsy and graft. Histologic examination showed the lesion to be benign giant cell tumor. Differential diagnosis includes giant cell tumor, either benign or malignant, aneurysmal bone cyst, and multicameral simple cyst.

The patient was taken to surgery and the lesion was curetted and packed with bone chips. Histologic diagnosis was benign giant cell tumor.
